Are you looking to try Warby Parker women’s glasses?

I dread going to the eye doctor. I hate when they put drops in your eyes and how you can barely see anything afterwards. Also, the overachiever in me always feels like a failure after the eye exam if I don’t pass… do you ever feel like that?

Anyways, it’s probably been about 7 years since I’ve gotten new glasses so I knew it was finally time. I didn’t want to try on a bunch of glasses that others have touched (hello, we’re still in a pandemic) and I also didn’t want to break the bank getting new glasses. Since I live in Florida, I wear my prescription sunglasses more than clear eyeglasses so these would just be for watching a movie or driving at night.

That’s where Warby Parker glasses came in! I’ve heard of the company before but what enticed me the most about them is that they send you 5 pairs (for free) which you can try on (and even sanitize) in the comfort of your own home.

Not only is the process easier than your traditional glasses shopping trip, but if you end up buying a pair, they will donate a pair of glasses to someone in need! So, you’re saving money, don’t have to leave your house, and you’re helping someone out! It seemed like a win all around.

In this article I spill the beans on the Warby Parker home try-on process and the actual quality of the glasses.

Who Is Warby Parker?

According to their website, Warby Parker began when one of the founders lost their eyeglasses and spent a whole semester squinting and struggling until he could afford new ones. They made a vow that they would create a cheaper alternative that’s still fashionable for people to use!

The glasses are cheaper than ones you might be used to because they do not mark them up like other companies do. They do all of the design and production in-house so they can “wholesale” the glasses straight to you. In today’s modern world, their online glasses shopping experience is convenient and tempting for young professionals. In fact, when I ordered mine I was surprised to hear that four of my friends have happily purchased with them before!

how are Warby Parker Clear Glasses made?

When I first heard how much cheaper their eyeglasses were, I assumed that the glasses would be of lesser quality. But, they are still scratch resistant, have anti-reflective coating, hydrophobic coating (to help with smudging), and UV protection!

Warby Parker Home Try On Process

I was quite impressed with how streamlined the whole online glasses shopping process was. If you have face recognition on your phone it’ll be even easier than it was for me!

Here’s everything you need to know about buying glasses from Warby Parker:

  1. Head to their website
  2. Go through their online catalogue of glasses and select 5 pairs of glasses to try on for 5 days (for free!). If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the choices, they have a quiz you can take that will point you in the right direction.
    1. If you have face recognition on your phone, you can download their app and virtually try on the glasses too. Unfortunately my iPhone 7 doesn’t have this so I had to do it the old-school way!
  3. It took about one week for the glasses to arrive and they came in the cutest packaging.
  4. Once you’re ready to pull the trigger on your favorite glasses you can order them directly on their website! They will ask you for your prescription though…

Do You Need A New Prescription For Warby Parker Glasses?

If you are happy with your current eyeglass prescription, Warby Parker does offer a prescription check on their app which determines whether or not you’re eligible to skip the optician appointment. But, again, I don’t have facial recognition and I was a little bit nervous of using an app for something as vital as my vision so I opted for the old-school in-person appointment.

When I was ordering my home try-on glasses on their website, I was offered the option to book an appointment through ZocDoc. This is an online database that allows you to search for doctors based on your insurance coverage! I found it extremely easy and was able to book an appointment for just a few days later.

IMPORTANT NOTE: My particular optician did not measure my pupillary distance (the distance between your two pupils) so that delayed my glasses order. I had to go back to my optician to get that measured a week later. Their app does have an option to measure it for you, but again I did not want any discrepancies so I wanted to get the opinion of a professional.

How To Return Warby Parker Home Try On

The home try on box comes with a pre-printed shipping label. All you have to do is tape up the box, stick the shipping label on and drop it off in your mailbox!

At first I was skeptical that I could just leave it in my mailbox but my mailman went ahead and picked it up! No need to waste time going to a post office, Warby Parker has genuinely thought of everything.

Complaints About Warby Parker Glasses

I honestly do not have many complaints. I did find it frustrating that it took about one week for them to notice that my prescription was missing the pupillary distance, if I had known earlier to request for this I would’ve been adamant that my optician measure it.

Another complaint I have is that the frames are a bit too snug on my face, but I’m planning to head to a retail location to get them adjusted (which they do for free!). I will update this article once I get them adjusted!

Besides those two complaints, I am very happy with the process and the quality of my glasses.

Final Review Of Warby Parker Women’s Clear Glasses

So what did I really think of this virtual eyeglass shopping experience? Will I do it again?

I ended up settling on the Warby Parker Clemens glasses which cost $95 total! The price is mindblowing compared to the hundreds of dollars per glasses I was used to.

The whole process was so streamlined and quick that I definitely think I will be using Warby Parker again. I was surprised when my glasses arrived in a beautiful case with a cleansing cloth. I thought since they were cheaper they would forego the “extras” like the case and cloth but they didn’t. (P.S Apple take notes, no one wants to pay extra for the phone charger…)

There are other companies out there who also offer budget-friendly glasses, but I was truly impressed with Warby Parker and their charitable nature so I most likely will be shopping with them for some prescription sunglasses in the future.
