I still can’t believe teacher’s don’t get paid a summer salary. Every single year they have to scour the internet for summer jobs for teachers. Teachers have the power to influence a child’s whole career and life trajectory yet they have to scramble to find a job every summer!

I wanted to compile a list of summer jobs for teachers that I will continue adding to over the years to come! But, this list of jobs is not limited just for teachers, if you’re just looking for a way to make some extra cash or supplement your income save this article as well!

If your internship or summer job was cancelled due to COVID-19, there’s still time to find a side hustle to get you by these next few months! And no, this list doesn’t consist of survey websites and call center jobs but a list of legit side hustles that can pay you up to $50+/hour!

This particular summer might have left you feeling a bit discouraged in your job search, but I urge you to think outside of the box! While it is a bit harder to find your typical camp counselor job or babysitting gig, there are lots of online opportunities out there that could be a better fit for you!

The pandemic has brought about a huge trend favoring remote work. I believe that our shift towards the online business world has only been accelerated over the last few months and if you’d like a steady way to earn some extra cash that is a great way to do it.

There are not many contactless gigs out there these days so a lot of people are opting for remote online positions and I believe that will only continue to skyrocket over the next few years. I’ve rounded up 21 high-paying side hustles to look into, with many of them being remote positions perfect for staying safe during COVID-19.

    1. Sell your lesson plans
      Why not sell something you’ve already created? There are teachers all over the country looking for full proof lessons plans which you can sell!
    2. Pinterest VA – $50/hour
      Working as a virtual assistant focusing on Pinterest is highly needed right now! Creating click-worthy pins is time-consuming and many bloggers and businesses opt to hire some help with them. There are countless resources out there to learn Pinterest tactics and you can start getting clients by joining blogging groups on Facebook and offering your services!
    3. VA – $2,000/mo
      As a virtual assistant, you’ll be tasked with doing administrative work, answering emails, replying to DM’s, and much more depending on the particular job!
    4. FB Ad Manager – $5,000/mo
      Learning FB advertising is a highly useful skill these days. Everyone’s online presence is growing daily and by understanding how to properly run ads you can start a highly profitable online business.       Kaplan hires all over the country for various positions in their testing department.

      There are a number of online colleges popping up throughout the country. You could teach at one like The University of Phoenix

      My boyfriend worked a trash valet job last year that paid $30/hour! Granted you won’t be working a full 8 hours, but if you pick up a few of these jobs, you should be able to make enough to get you through the rest of the summer. Some of them require owning a pickup truck but there are those that don’t. Check your local job boards for listings!
    13. Preserve Foreclosed Homes
      This was an interesting one! There are companies all over the country that specialize in junk removal and prepping a foreclosed home for the market. You can learn how to join such companies here.
    14. Exterior painting
      When I was in college, one of my favorite jobs was with Student Painters. I spent all day outdoors (getting tan and fit) and painting decks and exteriors for homes. The days flew by and I was able to listen to podcasts and day dream.
    15. Craigslist Gigs
      I see postings on
      Craigslist for helping with yard work for one day, helping with a move, bartending an event etc. These gigs require a smaller commitment and are a good way to earn some extra cash.
    16. Landscaping – $20/hour
      If you live in Florida, the summers here are scorching so there are lots of landscaping opportunities! Check out your local landscaping companies and see if they’ll take you on for the summer!
    17. Pool Cleaner –
      Since people are using pools more often in the summer, this is a perfect seasonal summer job for teachers!
    18. Deliver Amazon packages
      You can either use your own vehicle to deliver with Amazon Flex or you can look up local opportunities in your area. With many of us still in quarantine and working from home, Amazon is actively hiring new delivery drivers.
    19. Deliver food-
      There are many food delivery options out there, but some of the more popular ones are
      UberEats, Postmates, and DoorDash. When I was in college, my town had its own local food delivery service so perhaps yours does too!
    20. Deliver groceries
      Companies like Shipt and InstaCart are thriving right now since many people are still limiting their visits to the stores.
    21. Deliver packages-
      Amazon isn’t the only package delivery service you can work for! Look into companies like Roadie, Deliv, and GoShare as well!
